James R. Livensparger, 65, of rural Edon, Ohio, died at 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2008, in his home after and extended illness. Mr. Livensparger was a member of the 1960 Class of Edon High School and was employed by Thiel Construction and Supply Center for twenty-five years, retiring as manager of the supply center. He was a member of the Columbia Church of Christ near Edon, Ohio, where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Treasurer. He was also a charter member of the Lake Area Christian Church near Fremont, Indiana. He served three terms on the Edon Northwest School Board and was formerly a Pony League baseball coach. James R. Livensparger was born on December 18, 1942, near Edon, Ohio, the son of Orville and Bessie (Smith) Livensparger. He married Sharon K. Schaffter on October 27, 1962, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Livensparger is survived by a daughter, Bobbi (Mark) Jackson, of Edon, Ohio, a son, Bill (Kelly) Livensparger, of Montpelier, and four grandchildren, Megan and Kara Jackson, of Edon, Ohio, and Shea and Keean Livensparger, of Montpelier, Ohio. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty (Paul) Pawlikowski, of Holland, Michigan, and Helen (Orren) Van Zile, of Montpelier, Ohio, three brothers, Bob (Mary) Livensparger, of Hamilton, Indiana, Marlin (Karol) Livensparger, of Edon, Ohio, and Stuart (DeAnn) Livensparger, of Littleton, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Weldon and Yvonne Schaffter, a grandson, Derek James Livensparger, in 1999, two brothers, Gerald and Marion Livensparger, and two infant brothers, Richard Dale and Orville Livensparger, Jr. Services for James R. Livensparger will be on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Columbia Church of Christ with Pastor Scott Saltsman officiating. Interment will follow in the Columbia Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11. Memorials in the name of James R. Livensparger may be given to the Columbia Church of Christ Parking Lot Fund or the Lake Area Christian Church, Fremont, Indiana.
