Eva Belle Smith, age 90, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at Harborside Healthcare of Northwest Ohio in Bryan. Mrs. Smith was a 1936 graduate of Farmer High School and was employed by Spangler Candy Company from 1952 to 1983 and then was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Bryan for eleven years. During the 70s and 80s, she operated George and Eva’s Flower Shop in Bryan with her husband. She was also a member of the Melbern United Methodist Church and the Spangler Retirees Club. Eva Belle Smith was born on July 1, 1918, near Ney, Ohio, the daughter of Otis and Fern (Sell) Moog. She married George Smith on May 22, 1940, in Hicksville, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1986. Mrs. Smith is survived by one daughter, Georgia Patterson, of Stryker, Ohio, six sons, Alan (Marilyn) Smith, of Chicago, Illinois, Jay (Marcia) Smith, of Bryan, Ohio, Jim (Karen) Smith, of Avilla, Indiana, Anthony (Betty Jean) Smith, of Bryan, Ohio, and Rex (Ella) Smith, of Montpelier, Ohio, a daughter-in-law, Kay Smith, of Stryker, Ohio, twenty-two grandchildren, fifty-five great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and two brothers-in-law, L.D. Grandey and Eugene Miller. She is also survived by one sister, Betty Lee (Ivan) Arend, of Dunedin, Florida. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Judy Smith, two sisters, Irene Miller and June Grandey, and a son, Jerry Smith. Services for Eva Belle Smith will be on Monday, September 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Diane Schaffner officiating. Interment will follow in Farmer Cemetery near Farmer, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, Ohio, from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2008. Memorials in the name of Eva Belle Smith may be given to Hospice the Caring Way of Williams and Fulton Counties.
