Max L. Howell, age 77, of Osteen, Florida, and formerly of Edon, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at his home in Osteen. Mr. Howell was a machinist employed by Edon Machine for fourteen years. He was then employed by the Marita Bakery in Florida for twenty years until his retirement. He was a World War II veteran and served in the United States Navy from 1941 - 1945. Max L. Howell was born February 8, 1928, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Ross Ivan and Bethel (Lords) Howell. He married Betty Jean Hassinger on June 26, 1948, in Coldwater, Michigan, and she preceded him in death on April 30, 1996. Mr. Howell is survived by three sons, Robert (Natalie) Howell, of Osteen, Florida, Cortney (Susan) Howell, of Deland, Florida, and Hal Lamar (Pamela) Howell, of Arlington, Texas, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Dean (Jan) Howell, of Coldwater, Michigan, one sister, Beverly DeKam, also of Coldwater, Michigan, and several half brothers and sisters. Services for Max L. Howell will be Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, with Pastor Eric Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Edon Cemetery, Edon, Ohio. Visitation will be in the funeral home one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2.
