William “Whitey” R. Conrad, age 87, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 9:39 a.m. on Monday, May 25, 2009, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, Ohio. Mr. Conrad was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Swetnam, which became Brust Pipeline Construction. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a life member of Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233 and a former member of the Butler American Legion. William R. Conrad was born on January 30, 1922, in Newry, Pennsylvania, the son of Charles and Margaret (Wyant) Conrad. He married Betty Louise Imler on October 13, 1946, in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, and she survives. Mr. Conrad is survived by two daughters, Nancy Lee (Stanley) Miller, of Citrus Springs, Florida, and Wilma Davis, of Defiance, Ohio, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren, one stepgreat-great-granddaughter and one brother, Don (Dorothy) Conrad, of Altoona, Pensylvania. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, five brothers, Regis, Charles, Francis, Adam, and Nelson, and one sister, Geraldine Yingling. Services for William R. Conrad will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Dane Meuschke officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan V.F.W. Post #2489. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, May 28, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorials in the name of William R. Conrad may be given to the American Cancer Society.
