Gary Ross Detter, age 62, of Stryker, Ohio, died at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Bryan Care & Rehabilitation Center in Bryan, Ohio, where he had been a patient after a long illness. A 1964 graduate of Wauseon High School, Mr. Detter was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 2000 from General Motors Powertrain in Defiance, Ohio, after 32 years of service. Gary Ross Detter was born on September 11, 1946, in Wauseon, Ohio, the son of Waldo and Donnelda (Vonier) Detter. He married R. Diane Uptgraft on March 23, 1985, in Fort Wayne Indiana, and she survives. Also surviving are three sisters, Dianna Detter, of Phoenix, Arizona, Debbie (Bob Bracey) Schmitt, of Decatur, Indiana, and Marcia (Jeff) Grant, of West Unity, Ohio, and one brother, Michael (Stephanie) Detter, of Kendallville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pamela (Schumacher) Detter, an infant son, Christopher, and his parents. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan, with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan V.F.W. Post #2489. Memorials in the name of Gary R. Detter may be given to WBCL radio station.
