View Video Tribute Joseph M. Barns, age 85, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 12:11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers - Bryan, shortly after admittance. Mr. Barns was employed at Challenge-Cook Brothers as a welder, custodian, and crane operator, having retired in 1988. He was also a self-employed farmer. He attended Hillsdale Assembly of God in Jonesville, Michigan. Joseph M. Barns was born on July 23, 1922, in Paulding County, Ohio, the son of Thomas and Emma A. (Clark) Barns, Jr. He married Charlotte Stenger on November 26, 1947, in Hillsdale, Michigan, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Barns is survived by one son, Larry Barns, of Bryan, Ohio, and two daughters, Carolyn (Lowell) Traxler, of Pioneer, Ohio, and Barbara (John) Carpenter, Jr., of West Unity, Ohio, six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Keller and Gladys Dunn, both of Camden, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Allen Barns, five brothers and four sisters. Services for Joseph Barns will be on Monday, March 10, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hillsdale Assembly of God Church with Pastor Dennis Haarer officiating. Interment will follow in Frontier Cemetery, Frontier, Michigan. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2008. Memorials in the name of Joseph Barns may be given to Hillsdale Assembly of God Church.
