Grace L. Harvey

Grace L. Harvey, age 98, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 5:38 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Community Health Professionals In-patient Hospice Center near Defiance, Ohio, where she was a patient. A lifelong resident of Edgerton, Mrs. Harvey was a member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Pearl Circle and for many years taught Sunday school. She had been employed as manager of the Kroger store in Edgerton and worked at Gruver’s IGA and also at the Edgerton Meat Locker for twenty-two years. Grace L. Harvey was born on September 22, 1910, in Butler, Indiana, the daughter of Chauncey and Carrie (Schott) McDonald. She married Alden J. “Skeet” Harvey on December 23, 1933, in Wauseon, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on November 12, 1992. Mrs. Harvey is survived by a daughter, Shirley (Harvey) Ladd, of Edgerton, Ohio, two grandchildren, Andy Clifford, of Edgerton, Ohio, and Patrick (Jennifer) Clifford, of Butler, Indiana, four great-grandchildren, Trevor and Jared Clifford, of Bryan, Ohio, and Brittany and Dakota Clifford, of Butler, Indiana, and a sister, Catherine Howard, in Florida. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude, and a grandson, Marshall Nelson. Services for Grace L. Harvey will be private. A reception celebrating the life of Grace L. Harvey will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Edgerton United Methodist Church, where her favorite pie and coffee will be served. Memorials in the name of Grace L. Harvey may be given to Community Health Professionals In-patient Hospice, 6825 State Route 66 North, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
