Vera L. Szabo, 90 years, of Bryan, Ohio and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, died Friday, December 23, 2005 at Harborside of Northwest Ohio, where she had been a resident the past week. She had been employed as a bag handler for the St. Regis Paper Company in Toledo for 27 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Toledo. Vera L. Szabo was born on July 23, 1915, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Noah and Leona (Monnett) Hay. She married Lloyd Silverwood in 1934, and he preceded her in death on September 22, 1951. She then married James G. Szabo in 1955, and he also preceded her in death on August 17, 1983. Surviving are her three daughters, Nancy Peterson of Portland, Oregon, Esther Johnson of Pioneer and Lois (Mike) Worstell of Bryan; one son, Larry (Juldean) Silverwood, of Blissfield, Michigan; 19 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clinton R. (Mona) Hay of Woodville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one daughter, Ellen Snyder, a granddaughter, Debra Whitemore, three sisters, Pearl, Edna and Ruth and one brother, Bud Hay. Funeral Services for Vera L. Szabo will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005 in the Krill Funeral Home 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio with Father Charles Ritter, officiating. Graveside committal services will take place at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo, Ohio with Father Thomas Wehinger, officiating. Visitation for Mrs. Szabo will be held on Monday, December 26, 2005 from 2-8 pm in the Krill Funeral Home. Memorials in the name of Vera L. Szabo may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
