Gerald “Jerry” D. McDaniel, age 70, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at his residence. A graduate of Bryan High School, Mr. McDaniel was employed by the City of Bryan Electric Department for thirty years, retiring in 1991. In addition, he owned and operated In & Outs Decorating for forty years, doing wallpapering and interior and exterior painting. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve. A member and deacon of Bryan Alliance Church, Mr. McDaniel was very involved with the Great Banquet in Bryan. He was Scoutmaster of Bryan Boy Scout Troop 222 for fifteen years and was a former member of the Eagles, Moose and Kiwanis. Gerald “Jerry” D. McDaniel was born on November 29, 1938, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Charles Melvin and Mildred Lucille (Humbarger) McDaniel. He married Sharol A. Blood on December 16, 1961, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Tina (Gary) Mulkey, of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, and Traci (Lance Halterman) McDaniel, of Toledo, Ohio; one son, Jerry Todd (Monica) McDaniel, of Zirconia, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Gaven McDaniel and Amelia McDaniel, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Nichole (Rob Rumpke) Whitney, of Lexington, Kentucky; two step-grandchildren, D.J. Kaufman, of Paulding, Ohio, and Kami (Andy) McGuire, of Defiance, Ohio; one great-grandchild, Colton Rumpke; two brothers, Jack McDaniel, of Bryan, Ohio, and Charles “Bob” (Betty) McDaniel, of Reading, Michigan; and one sister, Marilyn Thompson, of Bryan, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Services for Gerald “Jerry” D. McDaniel will be on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bryan Alliance Church, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Gary Kiesling and Ted Mathes officiating. Interment will be in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan, Ohio. Grave side military rites will be conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489. Visitation will be in the church for two hours preceding the service, from 12:00-2:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 23. Memorials in the name of Gerald “Jerry” D. McDaniel may be given to C.H.W.C. - Hospice, Bryan Alliance Church or the Great Banquet.
