Max R. Castor, age 88, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 11:35 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at Community Hospital and Wellness Center in Bryan, Ohio. Mr. Castor was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII. He worked as a foreman with Bard Manufacturing, Bryan, retiring in 1985 with fifty years of service. He was currently working as a bartender at Cold Springs, Hamilton, Indiana, and formerly at the Bryan Moose Lodge. He was a life member of Bryan V.F.W. Post #2489 and was also a member of Bryan Moose Lodge #1064 and Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233. He was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Bryan Bowling Hall of Fame. Max R. Castor was born on May 19, 1920, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Arthur and Etta (Williams) Castor. He married Miriam E. “Mim” Rubel on July 7, 1947, in Auburn, Indiana, and she survives. Mr. Castor is also survived by one son, David Castor, of Austin, Texas, two grandchildren, Tammy Fulford and Heath Castor, both of Austin, Texas, and one great-grandson, Paul Fulford. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Lucille Wilhelm, three brothers, Arthur, Jr., Merle and Forest Castor, one half-sister, Leone Warford, and one half-brother, Harold Castor. There will be no services and interment will be private. Memorials in the name of Max R. Castor may be given to a Phi Beta Psi Sorority to benefit cancer research at P.O. Box 522, Bryan, Ohio.
