Beatrice A. Davis, age 92, of Defiance, Ohio, and formerly a long-time resident of Bryan, Ohio, died at 2:58 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2008, at Laurels of Defiance, where she was a resident for ten days. Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Farmer High School and worked at Bryan Custom Plastics, retiring in 1981 with 27 years of service. She operated Davis Green House with her family for forty years and Davis Produce for fifteen years until 2000. She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan, Ohio, a member of the Farmer Get Together Club and also Bryan Senior Citizens. She was an avid quilter, reader and loved playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. Beatrice A. Davis was born on April 21, 1916, in Washington Township of Defiance County, Ohio, the daughter of Emanuel A. and Augusta S. (Moog) Vollmer. She married Leighton “Tub” Davis on February 28, 1935, and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1974. Mrs. Davis is survived by two sons, Gaylord (Pauline) Davis, of Bryan, Ohio, Gaylon (Elaine) Davis, of Defiance, Ohio, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were four grandchildren and two brothers, Adrian and Martin Vollmer. Services for Beatrice A. Davis will be on Friday, November 21, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Mary Beth Smith-Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, and one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, November 21. Memorials in the name of Beatrice A. Davis may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Zion Lutheran InnKeepers Program in Defiance, Ohio.
