Janet Andrews, age 80, of Bryan, Ohio, and formerly a twenty-five year resident of Tucson, Arizona, died at 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Harborside Healthcare of Northwest Ohio in Bryan after an extended illness. She had previously worked at Echarts Meat Packing in Defiance, Ohio, in the carpet cleaning business and as a phone solicitor. She loved to needlepoint. Janet Andrews was born on June 4, 1928, in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of Byron O. and Myrtle Alma (Laughlin) Smith. She married Merle A. Andrews and he preceded her in death in 1993. She is survived by a son, Charles Smith, of Ney, Ohio, a daughter, Susan (Todd) Handy, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were, her parents, two infant daughters, Deborah and Jill Eileen Smith, a son, Leslie Joe Smith, three sisters, Harriett Foss, Becky Meyer and Ruth Lois Coble, one brother, Byron Smith, and a grandson, Timothy Smith. There will be no visitation or services. Memorials in the name of Janet Andrews may be given to the American Heart Association.
