Marlin D. Carey, age 85, of Angola, Indiana, died at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Northern Lakes Nursing, Angola, Indiana. Mr. Carey was a member of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He retired from Steuben County Highway Department after 41 years of employment. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 31, Angola, Indiana, and the Edon Church of Christ. Marlin D. Carey was born on July 12, 1923, in Richmond Township, Steuben County, Indiana, the son of Elmer and Arilla (VanZile) Carey. He married Joyce Gray on November 14, 1948, and she survives. Mr. Carey is also survived by three sons, Joe (Debbie Millay) Carey, of Hamilton, Indiana, John (Cathy) Carey, of Ortonville, Michigan, and James Carey, Albion, Michigan; one grandson, Larry (Mindy) Dunham, of Fremont, Indiana; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lamar and Donald Carey; and one sister, Anna Lee Woodard. Services for Marlin D. Carey will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in Edon Church of Christ, Edon, Ohio, with David LaDuke officiating. Interment will follow in Edon Cemetery, Edon, Ohio. Visitation will be in Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, Ohio, from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009. Memorials in the name of Marlin D. Carey may be given to the Edon Church of Christ.
