Horace A. Lewis

Horace A. “Happy” Lewis, age 83, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 3:57 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, Ohio, where he had been a resident since 1984. Happy had been an area resident since 1976 when he moved here from the Dayton area, where he lived and worked as a farmhand and mechanic for Joe and Mossie Espey, who took him in as a young man. One of five children, Happy was born on March 29, 1925, in Sharonville, Ohio, the son of Vernon and Grace Lewis. He is survived by his caregivers, Claudia and Bud Apt, of Edon, Ohio, and their family and his beloved extended family in Dayton, Ohio. A memorial service for Horace A. “Happy” Lewis will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, Ohio. Interment will be on the family farm, where he worked with the Espey family for many years.
