LaVogne F. Baerlin, age 91, of Bryan, Ohio, died on Thursday, February 19, 2009, from injuries sustained in a fall at his home. Mr. Baerlin was a lifelong area resident, farmer and retired as a welder from Challenge-Cook Brothers. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan, Ohio, and was an avid attendee of Bluegrass/Gospel jam sessions around the area and loved playing Rummikub games. LaVogne F. Baerlin was born on March 30, 1917, in Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Frank and Hazel (Royer) Baerlin. He married Marian C. Easler on August 16, 1941, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on August 9, 1998. Mr. Baerlin is survived by two sons, Charles (Carol) Baerlin, of Windsor, California, and Arthur (Rita) Baerlin, of Cordova, Tennessee, two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Linda) Fuller, of New Haven, Indiana, and Mrs. Noel (Martha) Heisler, of Oregon, Ohio, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Pauline Dyke, of Detroit, Michigan. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Angela Heisler, and one sister, Juanita Figley. Services for LaVogne F. Baerlin will be held on Monday, February 23, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan, Ohio, with Reverend Mary Beth Smith-Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, February 22. Memorials in the name of LaVogne F. Baerlin may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan, Ohio, or the Angela Heisler Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Clay High School, Oregon, Ohio.
