Jake L. Lorentz, age 72, of Bryan, Ohio, died early on Sunday, February 1, 2009, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, Ohio, where he was a patient. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Lorentz was employed as a machinist at Air-Way Manufacturing in Edgerton, Ohio. Jake L. Lorentz was born on July 6, 1936, near Stryker, Ohio, the son of Alvin Fred and Vesta (Sonanstine) Lorentz. He married Audree S. Luke on September 15, 1960, in Defiance, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on January 30, 2000. Mr. Lorentz is survived by a son, Kevin Dale (Linda Pabst) Lorentz, and a daughter, Alta (William) Rohrs, both of Bryan, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Ed (Betty) Lorentz and Robert (Judy) Lorentz, both of Bryan, and two sisters, Ruth (Rex) Detwiller, of West Unity, Ohio, and Betty (Robert) Flory, of Bryan, Ohio. Preceding him in death in addition to his wife were an infant sister, Martha Mae Lorentz, a brother, Fred Lorentz, and three sisters, Alice Lorentz, Mildred Winover, and Helen Castor. Services for Jake L. Lorentz will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2009, in Grace Community Church, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Sam Byroads officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio, with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan V.F.W. Post #2489. Visitation will be in the church one hour prior to the service, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., on Saturday. Memorials in the name of Jake L. Lorentz may be given to the family.
