Luella M. Humphrey, age 92, of Edon, Ohio, died at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2009 at Evergreen Manor Nursing Care Center in Montpelier, Ohio where she was a resident for two weeks. Mrs. Humphrey was a lifelong resident of Northwest Township and a member of the Columbia Ladies Aide. She was a homemaker and seamstress. Luella M. Humphrey was born October 27, 1916, in Williams County, Ohio the daughter of Roscoe and Ella (Rigleman) McCrea. She married C. Dale Humphrey on August 24, 1935 and he preceded in death on February 22, 1991. Mrs. Humphrey is survived by four sons, Robert (Susan) Humphrey, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Glenn (Karen) Humphrey, of Montpelier, Ohio, Alan (Gay) and Wendell (Alma) Humphrey, both of Edon, Ohio, a daughter, Gailya “Gail” Phillips, of Dallas, Texas, a daughter-in-law, Gloria Humphrey, of Bryan, Ohio, a sister, Elsie (Howard) Canner, of Whiting, Indiana, and a brother, Ross (Joyce) McCrea, of Hammond, Indiana. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and their families and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jerry, in 1995, one grandson, Elmer Humphrey, two sisters, Aldena Parson and Ruth Beach and a son-in-law, J.T. Phillips. Services for Luella M. Humphrey will be Friday, February 13, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio with Pastor Glen Prine officiating. Interment will follow in the Columbia Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 12. Memorials in the name of Luella M. Humphrey may be given to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Hospice Care or to the Evergreen Manor Nursing Center Activity Fund.
