Walter R. Keller, 67, of Churubusco, Indiana, and Sebring, Florida, and formerly of Edon, Ohio, died at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2005, at Highland Regional Medical Center, Sebring, Florida. Mr. Keller was a graduate of Edon High School, Defiance College and St. Francis University. He was involved in education his entire working career as a teacher, coach and principal, ending his career in Arizona at Lake Havasu and Kingman, Arizona, School systems. Walter R. Keller was born on May 10, 1938, in Cooney, Ohio, the son of Omer and Rachel “Becky” (Kinnison) Keller. He married Joan M. (McGuire) Shanabarger on May 27, 2000, in Churubusco, Indiana, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Keller is survived by seven children, Kim Henderson, of Cleveland, Ohio, Cherie Castleman and her husband, Jim Koenigsknecht, of Lansing, Michigan, LeAnne (Greg) Lary, of Thousand Oaks, California, Craig (Amy) Keller, of Munith, Michigan, Melinda (Marcellus) Figueras, of Okemos, Michigan, Michelle Klasko, of New Port Richey, Florida, and Crissy Keller, of Kingman, Arizona; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Renee (Lex) Luther, of Albion, Indiana, Brenda (Bob) Sade, of Churubusco, Indiana, Bruce (Lorraine) Shanabarger, of Churubusco, Indiana, and Nila Shanabarger, of Lafayette, Indiana, seven stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; parents, Omer and Rachel “Becky” Keller, of Edon, Ohio, and one sister, Ruth (Kenny) Lyons, of Edon, Ohio. Funeral services for Walter R. Keller will be held on Friday, November 18, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, Ohio, with Pastor Christine Newman-Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Edon Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Keller will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2005, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials in the name of Walter R. Keller may be given to Edon High School or Churubusco United Methodist Church.
