S. Marvin “John” Beach, age 83, of Edon, Ohio, died at 4:55 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2005, in Community Hospitals and Wellness Center, Bryan, Ohio, where he had been a patient for one day. Mr. Beach owned and operated the Union 76 service station in Edon for twenty-five years prior to selling in 1976. He then went to work for the Edon Northwest School System as a custodian and bus driver, retiring in 1992 with more than ten years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Marine Corps. He was a member of the Edon United Methodist Church and the Edon American Legion Post #662. S. Marvin “John” Beach was born October 29, 1921, in Northwest Township of Williams County, Ohio, the son of Dale and Blanche (Johnson) Beach. He married Susie Marie Kaiser on April 8, 1944, and she preceded him in death on December 26, 1990. Mr. Beach is survived by three daughters, Susan (Tim) Carlin, of Bryan, Ohio, Judy (Ron) Flegal, of Edon, Ohio, Jo (John) Gres, of Fremont, Indiana, seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Helen Mettler, of Tecumseh, Michigan. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jarvis Beach, and three sisters, Doris Coble, Maxine Crawl, and Mildred Coble, and one great-granddaughter, Raven Jade Parrish. Services for S. Marvin “John” Beach will be Thursday, October 20, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the Edon United Methodist Church with Pastor Eric Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Edon Cemetery, Edon, Ohio, with grave side military rites conducted by Edon American Legion Post #662. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19. Memorials in the name of S. Marvin “John” Beach may be given to the Edon EMS or to the Edon United Methodist Church.
