Helen E. Castor, age 79, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 8:55 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2008, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, Ohio, where she had been a patient since Saturday. Mrs. Castor was a graduate of Stryker High School and had been a teller for First Federal Bank in Bryan, Ohio, retiring in 1995 with twenty-six years of service. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bryan, where she was active in the Quilters Group. Helen E. Castor was born on July 3, 1929, near Stryker, Ohio, the daughter of Alvin Fred and Vesta (Sonanstine) Lorentz. She married Norman Benjamin Castor on June 2, 1956, in Archbold, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1992. Mrs. Castor is survived by one son, David (Cindy) Castor, of Hamilton, Indiana, one daughter, Brenda (Mark) Elling, of Napoleon, Ohio, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Ed (Betty) Lorentz, Robert (Judy) Lorentz, and Jake Lorentz, all of Bryan, Ohio, and two sisters, Ruth (Rex) Detwiller, of West Unity, Ohio, and Betty (Robert) Flory, of Bryan, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Martha Mae Lorentz, a brother, Fred Lorentz, and two sisters, Alice Lorentz and Mildred Winover. Services for Helen E. Castor will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008, in the Bryan First Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Franks officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiffler Cemetery near Bryan, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, December 26, and one hour prior to the service in the church. Memorials in the name of Helen E. Castor may be given to the Bryan First Lutheran Church or to the American Heart Association.
