James N. Mailahn, age 83, of Edon, Ohio, died at 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, in Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, Ohio, where he was a resident. Mr. Mailahn was a truck driver for several companies during his career and retired as a driver from Plas-Tec in Edon, Ohio. He was a 1942 graduate of Edon High School and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Butler Eagles, Bryan VFW Post #2489, Angola American Legion and the Masonic Lodge of Camden, Michigan. James N. Mailahn was born on July 2, 1925, in Niagra Falls, New York, the son of Emil and Marion (Morgan) Mailahn. He is survived by six children, Casey Mailahn, of Angola, Indiana, Dana Robinstine, of Camden, Michigan, Bradley Alan Mailahn, of San Antonio, Texas, Michael Eric Mailahn, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Raedene Newell and Elizabeth Churchwell, both of Camden, Michigan, twenty grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a half-brother, Richard Lougheed, in New York, and a half-sister, Sue Thrasher, in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and three children, Georgia, Kenneth and Francis Mailahn. Grave side services for James N. Mailahn will be held on Monday, December 15, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. in the Columbia Cemetery near Edon, Ohio, with Pastor Eric Dailey officiating. Grave side military rites will be conducted by Bryan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2489.
