Leo J. Muehlfeld, 66, of Blakeslee, Ohio, died at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2005, in his residence after an illness of four years. Mr. Muehlfeld served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. A 1957 graduate of Edgerton High School, he was the owner of Muehlfeld Furniture and Upholstery in Blakeslee for forty years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Blakeslee, and the Knights of Columbus Council 3883 in Blakeslee, the Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233, and the Montpelier Moose Lodge #312. He was a Blakeslee village councilman for 31 years and also was a former volunteer fireman with the Blakeslee Fire Department. Leo J. Muehlfeld was born on August 3, 1939, in St. Joseph Township, Williams County, Ohio, the son of Earl F. and Hazel (Nye) Muehlfeld. He married Linda L. Hug on November 19, 1960, in Blakeslee, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Muehlfeld is survived by four sons, Todd (Dawn) Muehlfeld, of Edon, Patrick “Buck” (Lisa) Muehlfeld, of Edon, Jody (Ronda) Muehlfeld, of Blakeslee, and Monty “Pete” Muehlfeld; two daughters, Jacine (Mike) Goebel, of Edon, and Amy (Adam) Brandt, of Edon; 15 grandchildren, one sister, Irene (Robert) Lehman, of Edgerton; stepmother, Doris Muehlfeld, of Edgerton, and three stepbrothers, Gene (Debbie) Pahl, of Edgerton, Darrell (Cathy) Pahl, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Lee (Karen) Pahl, of Edgerton. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Derek Livensparger, and two brothers, Anthony and Eugene Muehlfeld. Funeral services for Leo J. Muehlfeld will be held on Monday, October 3, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Blakeslee, with Father Stephen Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Blakeslee, Ohio. Visitation will be held at the Krill Funeral Home in Edon from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2005, with recitation of the Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials in the name of Leo J. Muehlfeld may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers - Hospice Care.
