Phyllis M. Reas, age 77, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 1:48 A.M. on Sunday, August 23, 2009, at Community Hospitals ands Wellness Centers, Bryan, Ohio, where she had been admitted on Saturday. Mrs, Reas was a nurses’ aide at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn, Indiana, retiring with thirty-one years of service. She was an emergency medical technician at DeKalb Memorial Hospital and also was a charter member of the Butler E.M.S., serving for twelve years. She was a member of the Butler Eagles. Phyllis M. Reas was born on August 29, 1931, in Waterloo, Indiana, the daughter of Clarence and Elva (Roose) Beard. She married Lavon A. Reas on October 4, 1947, in Montpelier, Ohio, and he survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Richard “Jake” (Rosanne) Reas, of Hesperia, Michigan, and Keith “Ike” (Beth) Reas, of Butler, Indiana, a daughter, Jeanette (Dan) Nickels, of Edgerton, Ohio, a stepdaughter, Carolyn (Lynn) Myers, of Kendallville, Indiana, twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and five stepgreat-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Inez (Robert) Prosser, of Wabash, Indiana, and Beverly Davis, of Butler, Indiana, and three brothers, Loren (Nina) Beard, of Ogdensburg, New York, Lloyd (Teresa) Beard, of Butler, Indiana, and David (Sue) Beard, of Spencerville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Colton Reas. Visitation for Phyllis M. Reas will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009, from 4-8 P.M. and on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton, Ohio, with Pastor Chris Mosley officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio. Memorials in the name of Phyllis M. Reas may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
