View Video Tribute Leona R. Betts, age 78, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 7:52, p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2005, in Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio, where she was a patient. Mrs. Betts was a 1945 graduate of Edgerton High School. She received bachelor and master degrees in music education from Bowling Green State University in 1950 and 1951. She taught music for 32 years, starting in the Wauseon and Hicksville school districts and finishing her career with twenty-seven years of service in the Edgerton Local school district. She was a member of the Williams County Retired Teacher Association. She was also a member of the Emanuel United Methodist Church, where she was currently the president of the United Methodist Women. She was the organist and pianist for Emanuel United Methodist Church for nearly fifty years and also was choir director for many years. Leona R. Betts was born August 16, 1927, near Edgerton, Ohio, in Defiance County, the daughter of Paul D. and Rosa (Valet) Krill. She married Wayne R. Betts on June 28, 1953, at Emanuel United Methodist Church near Edgerton, Ohio, and he survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, John Betts, of Bryan, Ohio and Darrell (Teresa) Betts, of Toledo, Ohio, eighteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two brothers, Ralph (Mary) Krill and Dale Krill, both of Edgerton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Laurie Stark, in 1993. Services for Leona R. Betts will be Friday, October 28, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the Edgerton United Methodist Church, Edgerton, Ohio, with Pastor Tim Gleason officiating. Burial will follow in Tamarack Cemetery in Defiance County, near Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton, Ohio, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 27. Memorials in the name of Leona R. Betts may be given to Emanuel United Methodist Church.
