Burl T. Mercer, age 69, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, Ohio, after a brief illness. Mr. Mercer was employed by Edgerton Metal Products as a trim press operator, retiring in 2001 with the closure of the plant and thirty years of service. Burl T. Mercer was born on January 16, 1940, in Captina, West Virginia, the son of Burl C. and Evelyn Irene (Bostic) Mercer. He married Melba I. Barker on September 20, 1958, in Duncan Falls, Ohio, and she survives. He is also survived by four children, Brenda (Eddie) Boterf, of Sherwood, Ohio, Marvin (Wendy) Mercer, of Edgerton, Ohio, Saundra (Dale) Kramer, of Sherwood, Ohio, and Barry (Darlene) Mercer, of Hamilton, Indiana, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Charles (Margaret) Mercer, of Kinsman, Ohio, Danny (Kathy) Mercer, of Edgerton, Ohio, Alfred (Marolyn) Mercer, of Montpelier, Ohio, and Russell Mercer, of Almira, Ohio, two sisters, Evelyn Hurlbert, of Vienna, Ohio, and Diana (Ernie) Eckart, of Burghill, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jack Mercer, and one sister, Loretta Eckart. Visitation for Burl T. Mercer will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Byron Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio. Memorials in the name of Burl T. Mercer may be given to the family.
