View Video Tribute Arthur D. Criswell, age 78, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 12:59 a.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2005, shortly after admittance to Community Hospitals and Wellness Center in Bryan, Ohio. Mr. Criswell was employed by the village of Edgerton, first as a police officer and then for twenty-seven years as street superintendent, retiring in 1987. He was a longtime member of the Edgerton Fire Department, retiring in 1989 with twenty-three years of service. He also served as a driver for the local EMS in its early years. Mr. Criswell was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II . Arthur D. Criswell was born November 14, 1926, in Brimfield, Indiana, the son of Allen O. and Vera B. (Ackerman) Criswell. He married Verla Joan Buchs on July 27, 1957, in Angola, Indiana, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Brian (Laurie) Criswell, of Bryan, Ohio, two daughters, Doris (Egbert) Kaul, of Ostheim, Germany, and Renee (John Forbes) Criswell, of Stryker, Ohio. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Bonnie Ammerman, of Kendallville, Indiana, and Barbara (Ken) Van Wagner, of Rome City, Indiana, five brothers, Edward “J.” Criswell, of Stroh, Indiana, Fritz Criswell, in Kentucky, Thomas Criswell, in Washington, Larry Criswell, of Rome City, Indiana, and Michael Criswell, of Stroh, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Bloomfield, and five brothers, Louis, Paul, Dean, Richard and Garmon Criswell. Services for Arthur D. Criswell will be Wednesday, October 26, at 1:30 p.m. in Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, with Pastor Tim Gleason officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, in the funeral home.
