View Video Tribute Lawrence M.H.M. Wu, M.D., age 69, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 9:03 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2006, shortly after admittance to Hicksville Community Memorial Hospital. Dr. Wu was an attending physician and general surgeon at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville, Ohio, and Boerger Clinic in Edgerton, Ohio, from 1974 until his retirement in December of 2005. His educational career began at Sacred Heart High School and the Catholic Anglo Chinese School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rangoon in Burma in 1956 and from the Medical School of Rangoon in 1961. He had a private medical practice in Burma from 1961-63. Dr. Wu then did a surgical internship at Knickerbocker Hospital in New York City in 1964-65 and then did his surgical residency at Knickerbocker Hospital from 1966-1969. He did his emergency medicine residency at St. Mary’s Hospital in New York City from 1969-1971. He held memberships in the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), the American College of International Physicians (ACIP), the American Medical Association and the Ohio State Medical Association. He was inducted into Oxford’s Who’s Who, The Elite Registry of Extraordinary Professionals in 1993, the Who’s Who National Registry in 1997-98, the Marquis Who’s Who in America in 1998-99 and received a life membership in the American College of Emergency Physicians in 1997. He also served on the Board of Trustees for Community Memorial Hospital from 1996-2005. Lawrence M.H.M. Wu was born on May 12, 1937, in Taiwan, the son of John and Maria (Wong) Wu. He married Margaret Perez on May 29, 1968, in New York City and she survives. In addition to his wife, Dr. Wu is survived by one daughter, Wendy L. Wu, of Toledo, Ohio. Services for Dr. Lawrence M.H.M. Wu will be on Monday, June 5, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edgerton, Ohio, with Father Stephen Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton, Ohio, from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2006, with a scripture service to follow at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials in the name of Dr. Wu may be given to the Hicksville Hospital Foundation or to the Edgerton Area Foundation.
