Willie Eugene Sponsler, age 51, of Lima, Ohio and formerly of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 1:25 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio where was a patient for several days after an extended illness. Willie shared a great love of his family, and his cats especially his beloved cat Dorothy. Willie Eugene Sponsler was born November 27, 1957 in Lima, Ohio the son of Jerry Sponsler and Viola Patrick. Willie is survived by four sisters, Melissa Coulon, of East Palestine, Ohio, Michelle Sponsler, of Bryan, Ohio, Donna (Leroy) Byrne, of Lima, Ohio, and Christina Barraco, of Bryan, Ohio, two brothers, Johnnie (Carla) Zimmerman, of Lima, Ohio, and Kenny Sponsler, of Cleveland, Ohio. Also surviving are his stepmother, Betty Sponsler, of Edgerton, Ohio, his aunts and uncles, Phyllis Patrick and Eloise (Dave) Deline, of Edgerton, Ohio, Willie Patrick, of Defiance, Ohio, Morris “Junior” Sponsler, of Lafayette, Ohio, Ernie Sponsler, of Lima, Ohio, and Johnnie Patrick, of Van Wert, Ohio, three cousins, Sue (Jim) Hickman, of Montpelier, Ohio, Lois Punches, of Montpelier, Ohio, and Frances Wireman, of Roundhead, Ohio, eighteen nephews and nieces and 24 great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather, Donald Zimmerman, grandparents and several aunts and uncles. Memorial services for Willie Eugene Sponsler will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in Grace Community Church in Bryan, Ohio with Pastor Michael Kelly officiating. Interment will be private. Memorials in the name of Willie Eugene Sponsler may be given to the family.
