Richard L. Mesnard, age 68, of Edgerton, Ohio, died on Sunday, December 6, 2009, in his home of natural causes. Mr. Mesnard was a 1959 graduate of Clyde High School and entered the United States Navy, serving from 1959 to 1961 attached to the USS Intrepid. He was released from active reserve in 1964. He then graduated from Andrew Barber School in Toledo in 1964 and was a barber at Joe’s Barber Shop in Blakeslee, Ohio, from 1966 to 1972 and continued to trim family and friends for many years. He became a sales representative for Knights of Columbus Insurance from 1972 to 1990 and then worked in materials management for Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers until his retirement in 2008. Dick was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton, where he served as a lector. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1494 in Edgerton, of which he was a past Grand Knight, Bishop Rappe Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and John D. Smith Post #10 of the Edgerton American Legion. He was an avid fisherman, Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan. Richard L. Mesnard was born on September 15, 1941, in Fremont, Ohio, the son of Harry G. and Leona M. (Schrickel) Mesnard. He married Sharon A. Stark on May 4, 1963, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Lisa Wilson, of Bryan, Ohio, two grandchildren, Dylan and Sydney Laney, two sisters, Virginia Davis, of Santa Barbara, California, and Connie Broady, of Williamsburg, Virginia, and his mother-in-law, Sally Stark. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nancy Cobb, and a son-in-law, Chuck Wilson. Visitation for Richard L. Mesnard will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, on Friday, December 11, 2009, from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a scripture service to follow at 8:00 P.M. Services for Mr. Mesnard will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Stephen Schroeder officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Edgerton, with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the Edgerton American Legion. Memorials in the name of Richard L. Mesnard are requested to St. Mary School or to the SHARE Foundation at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers.
