Joseph Henry Sack, 102, of Bryan, Ohio, and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, died on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare of Northwest Ohio, Bryan, Ohio. Mr. Sack began his working career in the coal and limestone mines of Pennsylvania. He later entered the gas station business, where he worked for forty years. He operated the first Socony Vacuum Oil Co. Station in the state of Ohio. He was an avid racing fan, attending over 35 Indianapolis 500 races. Joseph Henry Sack was born on August 3, 1903, the son of Charles and Caroline (Franks) Sack. He married Verna Leona Casey on April 16, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on July 16, 1956. Surviving are his son, Gerald (Barbara) Sack, of Bryan, Ohio; grandchildren, Randy (Lori) Fisher, of Bryan, Frank (Amy) Thomas, of St. Petersburg, Florida, John (Jody) Shultz, of Bryan and James (Michelle) Sack, of Edgerton, Ohio; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Palermo, of Hanover, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Tony, Fred and Louie Sack, and four sisters, Lucy Amedia, Mary Notares, Margaret Natale and Belle Cimmone. Funeral services for Joseph Henry Sack will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2006, in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Sister Regina Smith officiating. Grave side services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in Calvary Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio. Visitation for Mr. Sack will be held on Friday, April 21, 2006, from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m with a scripture service to be held at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorials in the name of Joseph Henry Sack may be made to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Share Foundation, or Harborside Healthcare of Northwest Ohio.
