Walter H. Kimpel, age 88, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 3:10 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, where he was a resident. Mr. Kimpel was a World War II Army veteran and had received the Purple Heart. He was a farmer and was employed by The Aro Corporation in Bryan, Ohio, retiring in 1982 with forty years of service. He was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church near Edgerton and also John D. Smith Post #10 of the Edgerton American Legion. Walter H. Kimpel was born on January 5, 1921, near Edgerton, Ohio, the son of Fred W. and Gertrude (Prediger) Kimpel. He married Dolores I. Green on September 12, 1953, in Angola, Indiana, and she survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Judy (Al) McIntire, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Darcy (Kerry) Carnahan, of Butler, Indiana, one son, Nathan (Tonge) Kimpel, of Wolcottville, Indiana, thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one brother, Irvin Kimpel, of Edgerton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Goebel, one son, Ken Maple, one brother and two sisters. Visitation for Walter H. Kimpel will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 2, at 1:30 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Reverend Chris Sigmon officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, Ohio. Memorials in the name of Walter H. Kimpel may be given to the Edgerton Senior Center.
