Arlene E. Rath, age 91, of rural Bryan, Ohio (Melbern), died at 3:57 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Park View Nursing Care Center in Edgerton, Ohio, where she was a resident. Mrs. Rath was a member of the Melbern United Methodist Church and the Sodom Grange. She was a production worker at Ohio Art Company in Bryan, Ohio, retiring in 1977 with thirty-eight years of service. Arlene E. Rath was born on June 7, 1917, in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of Gaylord and Faye (Severance) Kittredge. She married John F. Rath on December 17, 1939, in Bryan, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2001. Mrs. Rath is survived by three daughters, Darlene Goebel, of Edgerton, Ohio, Judy (Keith Hart) Smith, of Bryan, Ohio, and Connie (Joe) Cape, of Edgerton, Ohio, nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Betty Whitman, of Bryan, Ohio, and Ellen Ames, of Bradenton, Florida. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Denver Kittredge, a sister, Donna Sowers, and a son-in-law, Jerry Goebel. Visitation for Arlene E. Rath will be on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio. Services will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, with Bill Priest officiating. Interment will follow in Yackey Cemetery near Bryan, Ohio. Memorials in the name of Arlene E. Rath may be given to Melbern United Methodist Church.
