Muriel C. Hug, age 91, of Edon, Ohio, died at 11:20 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2009, at the Inn and Villas of Fountain Park in Bryan, Ohio, where she was a resident. Mrs. Hug was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Rosary Altar Society in Blakeslee, Ohio, and was a volunteer at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville for fifteen years. Muriel C. Hug was born on August 4, 1918, near Butler, Indiana, the daughter of Norbert and Dora (Stark) Goebel. She married W.A. Hug on February 8, 1937, in Edgerton, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on February 3, 1991. Mrs. Hug is survived by her children, LeRoy “Dugan” (Donna) Hug, of Edon, Tom (Sandy) Hug, of Bryan, Lyle (Rose) Hug, of Edon, Linda Muehlfeld, of Blakeslee, Norma (Tom) Yaggy, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Patricia (Mel) Juhl, of Angola, Indiana, William “Billy” (Barb) Hug, of Edon, Sue (Tom) Aschleman, of Auburn, Indiana, and LuAnn (Bob) Swary, of Bryan, thirty-eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Alice Denny, Rita Jackson and Laura Kline, all of Fort Wayne, Hilda Green, of Glendale, Arizona, and Millie Snider, of Columbia City, Indiana, three brothers, Edward Goebel, of Montpelier, Ohio, Maurice Goebel, of Decatur, Indiana, and Clair Goebel, of Edgerton, and a son-in-law, Harry Wolf, of Beaver, Pennsylvania. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn Wolf, three brothers, Nial, Basil and Cletus Goebel, a son-in-law, Leo Muehlfeld, a grandson, Matt Hug, and a great-grandson, Derek Livensparger. Visitation for Muriel C. Hug will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009, from 2:00-8:00 p.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon. Recitation of the rosary will be on Friday at 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Blakeslee, with Father Stephen Schroeder and Father Fred Duschl officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery near Blakeslee. Memorials in the name of Muriel C. Hug may be given to a charity of the donor‘s choice.
