Reverend Juan Rangel, age 83, of Paulding, Ohio, died at 6:01 P.M. on Friday, February 5, 2010, at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was a patient. Reverend Rangel was a retired ordained minister with the Spanish American Council of Faithful Pentecostal Churches. In his retirement he became a traveling minister within the church until the time of his death. He also retired from General Motors in Defiance, Ohio, in 1979 and was a member of U.A.W. Local #211 in Defiance, Ohio. Juan Rangel was born on January 27, 1927, in Zapata, Texas, the son of Romulo and Frances (Gonzalez) Rangel. He married Julia Castillo on March 12, 1949, in Edcouch, Texas, and she survives. Reverend Rangel is also survived by his children, Rebecca (Ernesto) Campos, of Bryan, Ohio, Fran (Ambrosio) Pedraza, of Defiance, Eva Ferrell, of Bryan, Josue (Maria) Rangel and David Rangel, both of Archbold, Ohio, Sara (Dennis) Morhart, of Hicksville, Ohio, and Ruben Rangel, of Montpelier, Ohio, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a brother, Severino Rangel, of Merced, California. He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Irene and Delia Ann Rangel, five brothers, Ramon, Asencion, Pablo, Perfecto, and Marcelino Rangel, and three sisters, Socorro Contreras, Teresa Alvarado and Lala Rivera. Visitation for Reverend Juan Rangel will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in the First Brethren Church in Bryan with Reverend Rosie Perez officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. Memorials in the name of Reverend Juan Rangel may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
