Norma J. Scranton

Norma J. Scranton, age 79, of rural Edgerton, Ohio, died at 7:16 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Community Health and Wellness Center of Bryan, where she was being treated for a short-term illness. Mrs. Scranton was a 1947 Edgerton High School graduate. She was a member of the U.S. Divers Wives Auxiliary. Norma J. Scranton was born on September 20, 1929, in Auburn, Indiana, the daughter of McKinley and Jessie (Stotz) Keller. She married Herb Scranton on March 10, 1951, in Key West, Florida, and Retired Navy Commander Herb Scranton survives. During their 58 years of marriage, she spent 23 years as a navy wife, mother, and father to their children during long and numerous deployments. Mrs. Scranton is also survived by one daughter, Debra (David) Morton, of Arlington, Virginia; one son, Herbert Scranton III, of Troutman, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Richard Scranton, of Outer Banks, North Carolina, Sarah Scranton, of Wellington, New Zealand, David Robbins, of Alexandria, Virginia, Matthew Robbins, of Hawaii, and Andrew Robbins, of Radford, Virginia; three brothers, Ralph Keller, of Pocatello, Idaho, Leroy Keller, of Fayette, Ohio, and Larry Keller, of Liberty Center, Ohio; three sisters, Betty Wilder, of Lansing, Michigan, Donna Armbrust, of Inverness, Florida, and Bernice Zenz, of Liberty Center, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, James J. Scranton, two brothers, Robert and Jack Keller, and two sisters, Maxine Yeksia and Kate Davis. Services for Norma J. Scranton will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow in Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, Ohio, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2009. Memorials in the name of Norma J. Scranton may be given to the charity of donor's choice.
