View Video Tribute Paul Crinus Cape, age 88, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 10:55 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2006, in Parkview Nursing Center in Edgerton, where he was a resident. Mr. Cape was a lifelong farmer and also drove school bus for the Edgerton Local Schools, retiring in 1983 with twenty-two years of service. He was a 1936 graduate of Edgerton High School and was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion in Edgerton, Ohio, where he served as sargent-at-arms for thirty years. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton, Ohio, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1492 in Edgerton. Paul C. Cape was born on March 8, 1918, near Edgerton, Ohio, the son of Guy C. and Agnes A. (Goebel) Cape. He married Dolores H. Studer on June 22, 1944, in Blakeslee, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on July 7, 2005. Mr. Cape is survived by one daughter, Gloria Ann Cape-Sunderman, of Defiance, Ohio, one son, Gary Paul (Pamela S.) Cape, of Mason, Ohio, one granddaughter, Holly D. Haines, of Phoenix, Arizona, and one great-granddaughter, Gemma Marie Haines, also of Phoenix, Arizona. He is also survived by three brothers, Sherman O. (Rozella) Cape, Frank D. (Maralyn) Cape and Donald A. (Patricia) Cape, and three sisters, Ellen Sleesman, Rita A. (Clarence) Wuebben and Rose Mary Johnson, all of Edgerton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Arthur, Kermit and Conrad Cape. Services for Paul C. Cape will be on Thursday, August 10, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Edgerton, Ohio, with Father Stephen Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Edgerton with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the America Legion. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, from 4-7 p.m on Wednesday, August 9. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials in the name of Paul C. Cape may be given to St. Mary School or Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
