Mary Alice Carlin

Mary Alice Carlin, age 83, of rural Ney, Ohio, went home in the arms of Jesus at 11:47 P.M. on Sunday, June 27, 2010. Mrs. Carlin was a homemaker and had been employed by the Holabird Company, Spangler Candy Company and G.C. Murphy’s early in her work life. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Dunkard Brethren Church. She loved gardening and at one time operated Carlin’s Greenhouse with her husband near Ney. She also loved having formal tea parties with her daughters and took them to homes of friends and to local nursing homes. Mary Alice Carlin was born on May 12, 1927, in Mishawaka, Indiana, the daughter of Ray and Mabel (Miller) Rensberger. She married her husband of sixty years, Donald, on August 21, 1949, in Sherwood, Ohio, and he survives. Also surviving are her children, Robert (Edna) Carlin, of Ney, Martha Dennison, of Bryan, Diane (Jim) Thompson and Wayne Carlin, both of Ney, and LaDonna (Marvin) Lorenz, of West Unity, Ohio, eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a brother, Lawrence (Pat) Rensberger, of Sherwood, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Pearl Rensberger, and a brother, Burl Rensberger. Visitation for Mary Alice Carlin will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in the Pleasant Ridge Dunkard Brethren Church with Elder Dennis St. John, Elder Tom St. John and Elder Harley Flory officiating. Interment will follow in Ney Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Pleasant Ridge Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
