Howard C. Sleesman, age 73, of Montpelier, Ohio, died on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, after an illness of several months. Mr. Sleesman was a 1955 graduate of Montpelier High School and was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Local 2 Operating Engineers in Toledo. Howard C. Sleesman was born February 28, 1937 in Edgerton, Ohio, the son of Clyde and Loretta (Siple) Sleesman. He married Iretha L. Elling on March 11, 1958, in Bryan, Ohio and she preceded him in death on March 16, 2004. He is survived by a daughter, Robin (Jeff) Cottrill, of Chillicothe, Ohio, a granddaughter, Amy Cottrill and a great-grandson, Logan Cottrill. Also surviving are three brothers, Albert (Kella) Sleesman, of Montpelier, Ohio, Robert (Jenny) Sleesman, of Chyenne, Wyoming and Warren (Mary) Bigger, of Danville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Iretha, and a son, John. Private grave side service were held on Monday, June 28, 2010, at Riverside cemetery in Montpelier with Pastor John Crilley officiating. Graveside military rites were conducted by Bryan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2489.
