Evelyn Blech, age 89, of Edgerton, Ohio, and a longtime resident of Hicksville, Ohio, died at 5:05 A.M. on Monday, July 5, 2010, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, where she was a resident. Mrs. Blech worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a stenographer following graduation from high school and it was there that she learned to fly. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Fort Wayne Veterans Hospital for many years until 1975 when she retired due to disability. She was a member of the Hicksville Church of Christ, Hicksville Eagles, of which she was a Life Member, and the American Legion in Farmer, Ohio. Evelyn Blech was born on February 19, 1921, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Vance and Cecil (Bowersox) Wynn. She married Don K. Blech on November 30, 1946, in Kendallville, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1965. She is survived by one son, Jerry Allen (Catherine) Blech, of Satsuma, Florida, and two daughters, Sue Ann Harrold, of Edgerton, and Linda Kay Mock, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Melissa Kae (Gary) Leupp and Shawn D. (Robin) Mock, and three great-grandchildren, Colton and Grant McMaken and Connor Mock. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lonetta Wilson. Visitation for Evelyn Blech will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010, form 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010, at 10:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Ken Wellman officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, Ohio. Memorials may be given to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospital Hospice.
