Lawrence T. “Ted” Doering, age 87, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 12:18 P.M. on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, where he was a patient. Mr. Doering was a graduate of Toledo Libbey High School and Tri-State University. ,He retired as chief engineer for Jennison-Wright Corporation in Toledo with twenty-three years of service and prior to that had worked at Mobil Oil as a marketing analyst for thirteen years. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, serving during World War II on Iwo Jima and in Japan with the Signal Corps of the 5th Marine Division. Mr. Doering was a member of Superior Lodge of West Unity #179 F & AM and was a former member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo. Lawrence T. “Ted” Doering was born on April 25, 1922, in Toledo, Ohio. He married Jane H. Wheeler on June 18, 1969, in Toledo, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on March 9, 2009. Survivors include one stepson, Jim (Jackie) Wheeler, of Gwynn, Michigan, a son, Joseph L. Doering, in Texas, a sister, Joanne (Sam) Mihailoff, of Toledo, and his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Also surviving are his beloved nieces and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Jane, a daughter, Lois, and a brother, Richard. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 2-4 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio. Grave side military rites will be conducted at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. The family wishes to extend its special thanks to Pegge Sines and the staff at Dream Haven Assisted Living for the loving care of Ted. In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of Lawrence T. “Ted” Doering may be given to Dream Haven Assisted Living in Edgerton or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
