John D. Lirot

View Memorial Tribute John D. Lirot, age 83, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 1:39 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was a patient for two weeks. Mr. Lirot was employed by Bryan Heating Supply, retiring in 1988 with sixteen years of service. He also had worked at The Aro Corporation in Bryan, Ohio, as a machinist and had worked as an auto mechanic in the Bryan and Edgerton area. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and a member of the Bryan American Legion Post #284. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton, Ohio. John D. Lirot was born on February 27, 1923, in Center Township of Williams County, Ohio, the son of Isadore J. and Theresa M. (Stark) Lirot. He married Marilyn Smith on August 6, 1945, in Florence, South Carolina, and she preceded him in death on March 21, 1999. He then married Lavon Nester on August 25, 2001, in Edgerton, Ohio, and she survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lirot is survived by five children, Beth (Andrew) Elegeer, of Bryan, Ohio, Melinda (Robert) Spragg, of Edgerton, Ohio, Kevin (Debra) Lirot, of Huyck Lake, Michigan, David (Pat) Lirot, of Coldwater, Michigan, Karen (Eric) Frazer, of Buffalo, New York, five stepchildren, Denny (Linda) Nester, of Kendallville, Indiana, Kenny (Pam) Nester, of Edon, Ohio, Michael Nester and Charlene (Robert) Nye, both of Edgerton, Ohio, James (Jo) Nester, of Frankfort, Kentucky, twelve grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, eleven stepgrandchildren, and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Roger (Imogene) Lirot and Alfred Lirot, both of Bryan, Ohio, and Walter Lirot, of Defiance, Ohio, and one sister, Pauline (Robert) Bloom, of Stryker, Ohio. He was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters and one grandson, Jamee Lirot. Services for John D. Lirot will be on Monday, June 26, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Stephen Schroeder officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan American Legion Post #284. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 25. Recitation of the rosary will be at 8:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorials in the name of John D. Lirot may be given to St. Mary Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
