Allen S. Babb

Allen Stanley Babb, age 66, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 6:36 A.M. on Friday, February 19, 2010, at his home with family and friends by his side. Allen was a veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division (Green Beret). He graduated from North Central High School in 1961 and was a member of the Montpelier Moose Lodge. Allen got his first truck on June 6, 1966, and he continued to own and operate trucks while being the owner of Babb Trucking. Allen loved time spent with his grandchildren and cooking for friends on Sundays at the cabin while playing Wii and corn hole. He and his brother, Wayne, fabricated Thomas the Train, which kids loved to ride at his July 4 party, where his homemade ice cream was always a hit. Allen S. Babb was born on October 27, 1943, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Vernon Wilbur and Ruth (Holt) Babb. He married Connie Gorno on November 19, 1966, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Mark Allen Babb and Shawn Lee Babb, both of Edgerton, who now operate Babb Trucking; his stepmother, Lorena Babb, of West Unity, Ohio, six grandchildren, two brothers, Vernon Ray (Karen) Babb, of Saugatuck, Michigan, and Wayne (Carol) Babb, of Edgerton; two sisters, Alleatrice (Jerry) Van Nortwick, of Lake Seneca, Ohio, and Nellie (Ed) Lavens, of Fremont, Ohio; and twelve nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, from 2-8 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Byron Adams officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion, Edgerton. Memorials in the name of Allen S. Babb may be given to C.H.W.C. Hospital Hospice & Home Health Care.
