Kathryn I. Bruot, age 91, a lifelong resident of Melbern, Ohio, died at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at the Inn of Fountain Park in Bryan, Ohio, where she was a resident. Mrs. Bruot was employed for several years at Spangler Candy Company and had also operated Bruot’s Grocery Store in Melbern from 1950-1961 with her late husband, Harold. She was a member of the Melbern United Methodist Church. Kathryn I. Bruot was born June 29, 1915, in Melbern, Ohio, the daughter of Frederick Arthur and Helen Angeline (Long) Landel. She married Harold D. Bruot on May 29, 1946, in Carrollton, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1982. Mrs. Bruot is survived by two sons, Richard (Wanda) Robinett, of Edgerton, Ohio, Rick Bruot (and friend, Kathy Mumford), of Troy, Ohio, two daughters, Helen (Glen) Goebel, of Bryan, Ohio, and Shirley (Wayne) Snyder, of Troy, Ohio, and a son-in-law, Lavon Goebel, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one sister, Anita DeLashmutt, of Grand Rapids, Michigan.. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Goebel, and a brother, Dennis L. “Skip” Landel, and two sisters, Thelma Harrold and Betty Nicholls. Service for Kathryn I. Bruot will be on Monday, July 24, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio, with Pastor Diane Schaffner officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 23. Memorials in the name of Kathryn I. Bruot may be given to the Melbern United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
