Alan D. Strait, age 60, of Columbus, Ohio, died suddenly on January 11, 2010, in his residence. Mr. Strait retired as a driver with the United Parcel Service after more than twenty-five years of service. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University, with a major in German. He loved the German language and traveled many times to Germany and throughout Europe. He was a member of Northwest Presbyterian Church in Dublin, Ohio, and his family would like to extend special thanks to the members of the church for being great friends to Alan. Alan D. Strait was born on November 15, 1949, in Wauseon, Ohio, to Denver W. and Marna L. (Erwin) Strait. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Marna and William Burke, of Bryan, Ohio, two sisters, Karen (Jeff) Wehman, of Swanton, Ohio, and Jean (Bobby) Aswell, of Cornelius, North Carolina, one brother, Randy (Melva) Strait, of Durham, North Carolina, eight nieces and nephews, and an aunt and uncle, Bennie and Virginia Erwin, of Paola, Kansas. Preceding him in death were his father and one brother, Bennie Strait. Services for Alan D. Strait will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Reverend Dwight Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan, Ohio. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Memorials in the name of Alan D. Strait may be given to Northwest Presbyterian Church, Dublin, Ohio, or the American Heart Association.
