Daniel J. Dhaenens, age 80, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 4:50 A.M. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, in his residence. Mr. Dhaenens was employed by the City of Bryan for forty years, retiring in 1984 after serving as the Street Commissioner for twenty-five years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan and Bryan Lodge #215 F & AM. Daniel J. Dhaenens was born on May 24, 1929, in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Rene and Cecelia (Tobolski) Dhaenens. He married Kathleen Dierks on July 14, 1954, and she preceded him in death in 1985. He then married Marian Bowman Hitt in 1986 and she preceded him in death in 1997. He married Waver Lee Keck on March 13, 1999, and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Sheri (Roger) Cooper, of Ayersville, Ohio, two sons, Curtis (Susan) Dhaenens and Jeffrey (Sue) Dhaenens, both of Bryan, three stepchildren, Toni Kristine (Duane) Sandy, of Destin, Florida, Julie Ann Wanstedt, of Bryan, and John W. (Amy) Keck, of Adrian, Michigan, eight grandchildren, one great-grandson, six stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard, and two sisters, Patricia Reader and Johanna Dhaenens. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16, at 11:00 A.M. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bryan, with Reverend Mary Beth Smith-Webb officiating. Private interment will be in Fountain Grove Cemetery. Memorials in the name of Daniel J. Dhaenens may be given to C.H.W.C. Hospital Hospice & Home Health or Trinity Lutheran Church.
