View Video Tribute Marcile Allen, 89 years, of Hillside Country Living, rural Bryan, died on Monday, July 3, 2006, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Montpelier, where she had been a patient. A 1935 graduate of Farmer High School and a 1939 graduate of Bowling Green State University, Marcile received her Masters Degree from Purdue University. Marcile began her career as a teacher in Pioneer, Ohio. She then was an Extension Advisor in Steuben County, Indiana, for many years. She ended her career as a Professor Emeritus of the Food and Nutrition Department at at Purdue University where she taught from 1948 until her retirement in 1982. Marcile Allen was born on November 13, 1916, in Farmer Township, Ohio, the daughter of E.C. and Grace (Sewell) Allen. Surviving are her sister, Esther Sipe, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one brother, Morris Allen, of Defiance, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Allen of Edgerton; three brothers-in-law, Willard Kammeyer, of Pataskula, Ohio, Maurice Snyder, of Bryan, Ohio, and Wendell Peterson, Sr., of Defiance, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Zelma M. Peterson, M. Irene Allen, Edith LaRue Allen, Marguerite Allen Snyder and Phyllis Rose Kammeyer; and brothers, L.D. Allen, Harold Allen and Roland D. Allen. Funeral services for Marcile Allen will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2006, in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Jerry Searle officiating. Interment will follow in Farmer Cemetery. Visitation for Marcile Allen will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2006, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials in the name of Marcile Allen may be given to Farmer United Methodist Church or the Youth Group at Bridgewater Community Church.
