Edgar H. Hale

Edgar Henry Hale, age 87, of Ney, Ohio, went to the open arms of Jesus at 3:20 A.M. on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, Hicksville, Ohio, where he was a resident. Mr. Hale was a self-employed poultry farmer and carpenter. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. He attended Ney Church of God, where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher and helped remodel the old church. For many years, he was a school bus driver and team bus driver for Fairview Schools. Edgar Henry Hale was born on May 22, 1923, in Defiance, Ohio, the son of Luther LaVern and Ethel June (Schubert) Hale. He married L. Ruth Ruder on February 2, 1945, in Auburn, Indiana, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Patrick (Barbara) Hale, of Angola, Indiana, and Rex (Diane) Hale, of Forest, Ohio, one daughter, Kathy (Dwight) Bergman, of Ney, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one sister, Irene Brechbill, of Defiance, Ohio. He was preceded in death by one sister, Nina Colwell. Services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in the Ney Church of God with Pastor Carol Retcher officiating. Interment will follow in Ney Cemetery with grave side military rites conducted by Ney American Legion Post #680. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Memorial contributions may be given to Ney Church of God.
