John H. Yoder, 84, of Edon, Ohio, died at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, November 1, 2010, at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center, where he was a patient. Mr. Yoder operated the Pettisville Garage from 1951-1978 and then worked for the Edon Hardware from 1978 until his retirement. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Florence Township Fire Department and was a member of the NRA. He was also known as a “Jack of All Trades” because he could make or fix anything that was given to him. John Henry Yoder was born on August 19, 1926, in Farmer Township of Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Clemant and Barbara (Mast) Yoder. He married Penny Quigley-Schultz on June 22, 1973, in Brooklyn, Michigan, and she survives. He is also survived by seven children, Bruce (Deborah) Yoder, of Richmond, Virginia, Duane (Rachel) Yoder, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Erica (Bryan) Prough, of Goshen, Indiana, Charlene (Keith) Barr, of Elkhorn, West Virginia, Susan (Tom) Kreger, of St. Peters Missouri, Anita (Ken) Gochenauer, of Saranac Lake, New York, and Doug (Arda) Yoder, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, two stepchildren, Twig (Jeff) Walkup, of Coldwater, Michigan, and Rick Schultz, of Edgerton, Ohio, nineteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two brothers, Steven Yoder, of Homeworth, Ohio, and Nelson Yoder, of Pettisville, and two sisters, Elizabeth Hershberger, of LaGrange, Indiana, and Bertha Longaker, of Ligonier, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Cletus. Services will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, with Pastor Bruce Yoder officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery near Bryan. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 4, 2010, and one hour prior to the service on Friday, beginning at 1:00 P.M. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
