Clair M. Snyder, age 88, of Edgerton, Ohio, and formerly of Wooster, Ohio, died at 10:35 P.M. on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Dream Haven Assisted Living in Edgerton, where he was a resident. Mr. Snyder was a veteran of the United States Army and served with the 85th Infantry in Africa and then with the 5th Army Headquarters in Italy during World War II. He was employed as a mold engineer with Rubbermaid, retiring with fifteen years of service. He was a member of the American Legion and the Edgerton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed horseshoe pitching, was an avid golfer and bowler, and loved to hunt, fish and travel. Clair M. Snyder was born on March 24, 1922, in Adolph, West Virginia, the son of Carroll and Hazel (Shifflet) Snyder. He married Irene Julia Burky on December 22, 1947, in Cumberland, Maryland, and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Diana (William) Lutterbein, of Edgerton, two grandchildren, Wade D. Lutterbein, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Erica (Stephen) Tootle, of Visalia, California, and one great-grandson, Otis Henry Tootle. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Lutterbein, in 1978, and one sister, Rita Dechenes. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2010, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, Ohio. Services will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the Edgerton American Legion. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
