Leota M. Maier

Leota M. Maier, age 89, of Edon, Ohio, died at 1:40 P.M. on Friday, August 27, 2010, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, Ohio, where she was a resident. Mrs. Maier was a 1939 graduate of Edon High School and was a member of the Edon Church of Christ and an active member of the Edon Senior Citizens, of which she was a founding member. Leota M. Maier was born on February 27 1921, near Edon, Ohio, the daughter of Ingram and Ruth (Zeiter) Dargitz. She married Harold A. Maier on December 26, 1940, in Angola, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on December 26, 1976. She is survived by one son, Larry (Shirley) Maier, of Edon, two daughters, Gracia (Ronald) Englert, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Brenda (Greg) Lyon, of Edon, seven grandchildren, John McMackin, of Louisville, Denise Rameriz, of Davie, Florida, James (Lonna) McMackin, of Salyersville, Kentucky, Doug Maier, of Aurora, Nebraska, Wes (Jennifer) Maier, of Edon, Chad (Brittney Woods) Walter, of Fremont, Indiana, and Shannon (Chad) Lyman, of Edon. She is also survived by four stepgrandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Maxine Dargitz. Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, August 30, 2010. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, with David LaDuke and Nathan Derico, Ministers, officiating. Interment will follow in the Edon Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospital Hospice or the Edon Senior Center.
